Audience Survey

As part of my primary research I conducted a questionnaire on SurveyMonkey! to find out more about audience understanding of AR technology as well as collect data for my project idea. Overall I have received 43 responses.

Here is the link to my survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XBFMGS7

Question 1 - How old are you?

I asked this question to understand the age demographic of the audience, that I could potentially target my project towards. As you can see from the graphs below 86% of audience surveyed were 18-24 with nearly 12% being 25-34 and 2% being under 18. This means the the demographic for my show would be 18 to 34. As they are younger generations who understand the technology and make use of the technology to their benefits.

Question 2 - What is your gender?

I asked this question to understand the gender demographic of the audience, as you can see from the graph below 79% of audience surveyed were female and 21% male. This means I can target my project to a female audience.

Question 3 - Do you know Augmented Reality (AR) is?

I asked this question to see how many people understood what AR is. Over 58% understood AR technology and 42% didn't. As AR is a new technology it is understandable that some people don't know what it is. But majority of people do which is a good thing for my project.

Question 4 - Have you ever used a VR headset before?

I asked this question to understand whether the audience had experience using VR technology. 53% said yes while 47% said no. Again this is understandable as VR technology is still in it's infancy with room for development. Majority of people would have used VR headsets in tech demos or with cardboard headsets.

Question 5 - What do you think of Interior Design Shows?

I asked this question to find out peoples views on interior design/home improvements shows. This would give me the chance to analyse their comments and see how many and what they thought of a TV show about interior design/home improvementsFirstly, I didn't word this question correctly so few of the audience thought it was about interior design shows and exhibitions and not a TV show. Excluding those answers here is what audiences thought, presented in a word cloud. Majority of those surveyed found them interesting and liked watching home improvement shows and its elements while others didn't watch them and found them boring. I will use the feedback to generate ideas for my own project.

Question 6 - Would you watch an Interior Design show that incorporates AR in it's programming?

I asked this question to see whether people wold watch a show that incorporates AR and has AR as an big component of the show. 72% said yes which is very promising.

Question 7 - Would you interact with this type of show with your own VR headset?

For the last question I wanted to see if audience would interact with the show with their own technology and from the comfort of their own home. As audience interactivity is a big part of this show. 60% said yes
