Audience Survey

Image
As part of my primary research I conducted a questionnaire on SurveyMonkey! to find out more about audience understanding of AR technology as well as collect data for my project idea. Overall I have received 43 responses. Here is the link to my survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XBFMGS7 Question 1 -  How old are you? I asked this  question  to understand the age demographic of the  audience , that I could potentially target my project towards. As you can see from the  graphs  below 86% of audience  surveyed  were 18-24 with  nearly  12% being 25-34 and 2% being under 18. This means the the demographic for my show would be 18 to 34. As they are younger generations who  understand  the technology and make use of the technology to their benefits.  Question 2 -  What is your gender? I asked this  question  to understand the gender demographic of the  audience , as you can se...

Examples of AR in Interior Design

As AR is a huge component of my show, I decided to look at available AR apps in the market, that is used for interior design purposes. This following research has helped me gain insight into how the AR software that I will use for my show can be improved from the examples below. It has also helped me come up with a feature for the AR software such as price contrast.    TapMeasure:   Aimed at design professionals,  TapMeasure  is an AR app that enables  measuring and mapping  of interior spaces (in readiness for CAD design) with just a few taps of a smartphone screen. While  TapMeasure  uses a low level of AR sophistication, other interior design apps stretch the technology’s capabilities somewhat further. IKEA Place:  The  Place  app shares some characteristics with  TapMeasure , in that it uses AR to actually measure and map the space in which the furniture is placed. This allows the 3D furnitu...

Existing Interior Design TV Shows

As I am creating a TV show based on interior design/home improvements. I decided to look at existing shows for inspiration and ways I could make my show unique and stand out. By looking at these following shows I have developed my understanding of this kind TV genre and the requirements I need in order to make a show that my target audience will enjoy.  The Great Interior Design Challenge -  First airing in 2014, each series of ‘ The Great Interior Design Challenge ‘ aims to find “Britain’s best amateur interior designers.” It is effectively a competition to find unpolished design talent. In each episode, a new location is introduced and this location usually contains a distinctive form of architecture. It also focuses on a few participants at a time and follows them throughout the episode. These participants, or contestants, have 2 different challenges. The main challenge is often to redesign a room in the style that the client has briefed them with. They are giv...

How to Pitch a TV Show

Image
We were given a lecture on how to deliver an effective pitch by  Nick Thorogood, who  is a producer, commissioner and was also t he senior vice-president of content and marketing for Scripps Networks UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Receiving advice from someone who commissions shows and has years of experience in the industry has been useful. Here are key things to consider when delivering a pitch.  1. Being committed and passionate about the idea 2. Must have a structure and consistency 3. Research, write and practice 4. Know  who you’re pitching to: are they influenced by imagination or logistics 5.  Spellchecks, background check and making sure the document is labelled correctly and appropriately 6. Be unique and hard to forget 7. Have a beginning, middle and end As I am pitching an idea for a reality TV show, I conducted further research into pitching for this genre of televisio...
